Brian did it again. Personally I think it's better than T flats. As someone in the hospitality industry, what a step forward for him and his family. Way to go Brian! Just the kinda place I would love to manage. The food make you fall back in love with the old school ucf location vibe. Thanks wheeler fam!
Overview
Walking into Big Taco for the first time felt like stepping into a neighborhood spot that already knew me. It’s the kind of place where the counter staff greet regulars by name, and new guests are treated just as warmly. Located at 1455 Semoran Blvd, Casselberry, FL 32707, United States, this diner-style restaurant sits right along a busy stretch of road, yet once inside, the pace slows down and the focus shifts to food, flavor, and comfort.
On my last visit, I arrived just before the lunch rush, which gave me time to actually watch how things run. Orders are taken quickly, tortillas hit the grill almost immediately, and the kitchen moves with the rhythm of people who’ve done this thousands of times. That kind of consistency matters. According to research from the National Restaurant Association, repeat customers value speed and reliability just as much as taste, and this place delivers both without cutting corners. You can tell there’s a method behind the madness, from prepping proteins early in the day to keeping salsas fresh in small batches.
The menu is focused, not overwhelming, and that’s a good thing. Tacos are clearly the star, but burritos, quesadillas, and combination plates round things out nicely. I usually judge a Mexican-style diner by its basics, so I ordered carne asada tacos with onions and cilantro. The beef was tender, well-seasoned, and cooked hot enough to get that slight char without drying out. The corn tortillas held together perfectly, which sounds minor until you’ve had tacos fall apart halfway through eating them. This is where experience shows. One of the cooks mentioned they warm tortillas to order instead of stacking them ahead of time, a small process detail that makes a big difference.
What really stood out was the salsa bar. Instead of just heat for the sake of heat, each option had balance. The verde was bright and tangy, while the red salsa had a deeper, smoky flavor. A friend who joined me opted for a burrito and described it as packed with flavor, which matched my impression watching it come together. Portion sizes are generous, but not sloppy, something reviewers often praise when talking about value for money.
Speaking of reviews, browsing local feedback before my visit showed a clear pattern. Many diners highlight consistency and friendliness, two factors backed by data from platforms like Yelp and Google Reviews, where restaurants with steady service tend to maintain higher long-term ratings. While online opinions aren’t perfect, they do align closely with what I experienced firsthand. Still, it’s fair to say that during peak hours, wait times can stretch a bit, especially for dine-in orders. That’s the trade-off for freshly prepared food, and most regulars seem to accept it without complaint.
Beyond the food, there’s a sense of authenticity that’s hard to fake. The recipes feel rooted in tradition, but adapted for a casual American diner setting. That balance is something chefs and food historians often talk about when discussing successful neighborhood restaurants. It’s not about chasing trends; it’s about doing a few things really well and sticking to them. This place does exactly that, and it shows in how often locals come back.
Whether you’re stopping by for a quick lunch, grabbing dinner to-go, or introducing someone new to your favorite taco spot, this restaurant fits easily into everyday life. The location makes it accessible, the menu keeps things interesting without being confusing, and the overall experience feels genuine. For anyone exploring local eateries in Casselberry, this spot earns its reputation one plate at a time, grounded in real cooking, real people, and food that speaks for itself.

Our exceptional experience on November 8th was made possible by the extremely friendly and helpful staff Delia as well as Gavin the manager's extraordinary efforts to ensure we had a fantastic time. The menu offered a refreshing departure from typical Mexican restaurants, with a diverse range of options that catered to various tastes. Everything was made fresh to order, and the generous portions were a delightful surprise. The food was consistently tasty and fresh, making this a place we wholeheartedly recommend to others. We look forward to returning and trying other dishes, and will be sure to update with pictures of their amazing food.
Antonia has taken care of us and did an awesome job recommending things from entrees to hot sauces and me and my wife couldn't be any happier. Big taco offers a lot of great options, the portion sizes were incredible they did not skimp as it says on the menu on anything. They really picked up where Tijuana flats fell off and they're doing a great job and me and my wife and our family will be back no doubt. Gavin was the manager who came to check on us and gave us some insight about the restaurant and we really support their vision and they're doing a wonderful job executing it.. Good job big taco Thank you for knocking it out of the park.
A Hidden Gem with Heartfelt Hospitality! We stumbled upon Big Taco during a Saturday outing with my sister and mom, and wow—what a blessing! From the moment we walked in, the customer service was absolutely incredible. Smiles, genuine greetings, and a welcoming atmosphere made us feel instantly at home. It was our first time, and the staff took the time to walk us through the menu with patience and care. I have a food allergy, and they were incredibly knowledgeable, offering safe and delicious options with corn tortillas. The space was spotless, and the food? AMAZING. Truly—every bite was bursting with flavor. But what stood out most was the love. The staff treated us like family, and that kind of warmth is rare. If you’re looking for a place that serves up more than just tacos—something that feeds your soul—Big Taco is it. Highly recommend!
Great food! Reasonably priced. It’s bigger inside than it looks. The queso is huge! And the chips tasted like real chips. Crispy and seasoned! Lots of flavor in the food. We will be back!
Do you love Tacos? Do you miss how Tijuana Flats use to be and how good the food was back before it went under new management? Then Big Taco is here to save your hunger! Also try the Fat Cat Peach Maple Bourbon hot sauce while you are there!
We came to Big Taco for Taco Tuesday special! 2 tacos, chips and a drink for $7.99. Sophie helped us with our order and was very willing to let us try the different drink options. These tacos have a Tex-Mex flair and I had the chicken and beef. I liked the chicken a little more than the beef.
Anastasia met us near the door, and learning this was our first time, she helped us review the menu, making some great suggestions and answering any questions we had. The service from every staff member here was attentive and friendly! The food was absolutely delicious!!!! The salsa tasted homemade - fresh and flavorful. I enjoyed the carnitas quesadilla and my husband happily devoured the phat Tony chimichanga loaded with all the toppings! We are from out of town, but will definitely make Big Taco a must-stop on any return visit.
